Public results

SwimDesk keeps the coaching workspace separate from SwimDesk Live. Live displays published meet pages, results, and team information. This policy explains visibility and requests to hide a swimmer from public view.

Two sides

The desk holds practices, attendance, test times, birth dates, and the roster a coach types. Claiming a club on the registry, or administering its public page, never opens that desk. Another coach cannot read your season by putting the same club name on a public page.

Published results may show the swimmer’s name, team, race, time, course, place, and the meet and its date. School grade and graduating class may appear where they apply to the published record. Other profile fields follow their own visibility settings.

What public result pages leave out

  • An age, a birth date, or an age worked out from one.
  • Home address, school address, or contact details.
  • Raw attendance percentages and private practice or test records.
  • Unpublished entries, scratches, and raw timing-console records.
  • Anything typed in a coach's workspace that did not appear in an official result, unless a field is set to Public.
  • Internal coach notes. Those stay on the desk.

Unofficial and official

A live meet page may show unofficial times from the deck (labelled unofficial) so a parent on a second phone can follow the heat. Official times are what the referee signed. They are the number that updates personal bests, records, scores, and public career pages. The two are never shown as the same thing.

A published meet link or QR opens the meet’s public view on Live. A meet is available to anonymous readers only when the host has opened it for publishing. The link does not grant access to the desk or its raw timing records.

Per-field visibility

Visibility is checked for the field and the reader. Public results, team access, authorized family views, and approved recruiting access are separate. Staff and family choices can limit sharing. Seeing a result does not grant access to practice records or private coaching notes.

An athlete profile can show published personal bests and achievements. Private training and recruiting information requires the relevant access. A published page or family link is not a coaching invitation.

Publishing is opt-in

A club's own admin turns publishing on. Until then, official results may still be recorded so the desk has one career time. They are not listed for the public. Official results remain the reviewed meet record; a published meet may also carry clearly labelled unofficial times during operation. Turning publishing off hides the public listing again.

When two clubs at a dual send the same host file, the meet is one meet. The host's own upload is the one that counts; the other fills gaps. A whole bad upload can be withdrawn.

Children

Public team, meet, league, and athlete pages do not show birth dates or ages. Family and swimmer privacy choices can hide a swimmer from public pages and recruiting views. The stricter choice applies when more than one guardian holds access.

Opting out

A parent, a swimmer, or a coach can ask that a person not appear in public search or on a public club page. That does not take them off their own team's desk. Email support@swimdesk.us with the swimmer's name and, if you have it, their USA Swimming ID. A coach signed in under the club can record the same request from the desk.

Authorized family members can also review privacy choices in their Families area. A request about public visibility does not remove the swimmer from the team’s own roster.

Accounts

Coaches sign in. Athletes and parents do not need an account to read a published public meet page. A Live account is used for follows and family connections. Claiming a public club is not an invitation into anybody's workspace. See Privacy for the desk, sign-in, and deletion.
